Beneficiaries of Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) can now avail health services under the ESI Scheme in all 735 districts. From April 1, these members will start getting health related services in all these districts. At present, this facility is fully available only in 387 districts. Apart from this, partial services are available in 187 districts, while in 161 districts ESIC members do not get any healthcare.

Under eSIC, members receive health services in health centers and hospitals with tieups. ESIC now provides health related services to all its members under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana i.e. ABPMJAY. A few months ago a consensus has been reached about this.

SP Tiwari, member of the Standing Committee of eSIC said, ‘In its meeting held on Wednesday, the Standing Committee has approved the proposed budget for management under ABPMJAY, so that health services are provided to the insured in all districts across the country from April 1, 2021. Will be able to meet.

Agreement with National Health Authority

Tiwari is also a member of the Trade Union Coordinated Center (TUCC). He said that to ensure the availability of medical care in new places, ESIC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Health Authority. With this, ESIC beneficiaries will be able to get health related services in empaneled hospitals of ABPMJAY.

Under this arrangement, ESIC beneficiaries will be able to get services in all ABPMJAY hospitals present in the country. Apart from this, ABPMJAY beneficiaries will also be able to get health related services in ESIC hospitals. On Wednesday, the Standing Committee revised its estimate for the financial year 2020-21 in the 221st meeting. The budget estimate for the next financial year was also decided.

Number of beds will be increased in many hospitals

The committee has also approved the budget for the construction of 100-bed hospital at Bawal in Haryana, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, Bahadurgarh in Haryana, Tripur in Tamil Nadu and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this, a 200-bed hospital will also be built at Butibori, Nagpur. The number of beds in hospitals in Nandnagar, Indore will be up to 500. A 50-bed hospital will be made of 100 beds in Phulwari and Patna in Bihar.

What is ESIC Scheme?

Industrial workers who get a salary of Rs 21,000 or less per month are covered under the ESIC scheme. Every month a part of his salary is deducted which is deposited as medical benefit of ESIC. In every month 0.75℅ from the salary of workers & 3.25℅ Per month from the employer is deposited in the ESIC Kitty.
