What is E Shram Portal 2021?
The e-shram portal has been launched by Union Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav. National database of 38 crore unorganized sector workers will be prepared through E Shram Portal which will be seeded from Aadhaar. Due to which the laborers, street vendors and domestic workers will be linked together. The name, address, educational qualification, type of skill, family related information etc. will be entered on the portal. Along with connecting the workers together, many facilities will also be provided to them through this portal. Key Highlights Of E-Shram Portal
More than 27 lakh workers got registered on e-shram portal
As you all know e Shram Portal was launched by the government last month. So far, more than 27 lakh workers of the unorganized sector have got themselves registered on the E Shram portal. This information has been provided by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. The Ministry of Labor and Employment is also organizing various camps for getting the workers registered in the unorganized sector. One such camp was organized on 9 September 2021 at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi.
Through this camp, the workers of the unorganized sector working in various ministries were registered. About 80 workers were registered in the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Labor and Employment and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameshwar Teli. He urged all the workers to register on this portal.
Insurance cover will be provided to the workers registered on the E Shram Portal

Construction workers, migrant laborers, street vendors, workers of the unorganized sector can get themselves registered on the portal. Apart from this, the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Shram Maandhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana etc. will be provided to the registered workers. Workers will also be able to get the benefit of social security scheme through this portal. Under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, the receipt of 3000 rupees per month can be obtained by registering yourself on this portal.
Appeal made by the Minister of Labor and Employment
An appeal has been made by the Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Rameshwar Teli, to all the unorganized sector workers to apply on the e-shram portal. Apart from this, he has also been urged to extend support to spread awareness among the workers. So far, about one crore workers have registered themselves on this portal. Registered workers will also be provided with E-Shram Cards, Kovid-19 Relief Scheme, Atal Insured Persons Welfare Scheme and Beedi Shramik Cards. A 12 digit universal account number and labor card will be issued to all workers. Which will be valid across the country. This card will also serve as the identity of the workers.

Launch of e Shram Portal
E Shram Portal has been launched by the government to create a database of workers in the unorganized sector. This portal has been launched by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Under this portal, the government has approved a budget of Rs 404 crore to register the workers of the unorganized sector. Workers are not required to pay any kind of fee for getting themselves registered on the portal. The workers can register directly through this portal or through the app. Apart from this, workers can also get help from CSC center. ₹20 per registration will be provided to CSC centers by the Government of India.
38 crore unorganized sector workers will be covered
All the registered workers on the e Shram Portal will not need to register again and again to get the benefits of the Social Security Scheme launched by the Government of India. After registering on this portal, workers will be provided e-shram card. Which will have a 12 digit unique UAN number. This number will be valid across the country.
Apart from providing other necessary details like their date of birth, hometown, mobile number, social category by the workers, Aadhaar number, bank account details will also have to be submitted.
All social security schemes will be integrated through this portal. The government has set a target of registering 38 crore unorganized sector workers through this portal.
